A review is given of same standards used in acoustic practice and of their application. Detrimental effects of noise, such as danage to hearing and nuisance to workers and the general public, are outlined.
It is shown how a noise survey can be conducted on the basis of which proper remedial action can be planned to give maximim relief to nearby living areas far the expenditure allotted.
Finally, an indication is given of costs of noise reduction in new and existing plants.
