Nitrogen Fertilisation and its Interaction with other Cultural Measures: Experience in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Summary:
Increased usage of nitrogen (N) fertiliser has made an important contribution to the increase in yields which has been seen over the past 25 years. Results of experiments to measure the effect of N fertiliser on yield and yield components as related to other factors including soil N supply, plant population, organic manuring supply of other macro- and micro-nutrients, cultivations, the use of growth regulators and plant protection measures are discussed and conclusions drawn on the importance of adjusting the N fertiliser regime in accordance with local conditions and farming methods.
