This paper focuses on NOx abatement in post-production (tail gas) emissions associated with the manufacture of ammonium nitrate fertiliser and nitric acid. The technologies described in this paper are intended to augment the many abatement methods that can influence the amount of NOx emitted during production of these compounds.
The paper describes and compares conventional abatement methods for post-production treatment of NOx and N2O with a new and proven NOx and SO2 abatement technology: Know-NOx. The description of Know-NOx features and benefits includes a method to convert the NOx reaction byproducts into fertiliser. This is one of many commercially viable products that can be produced. Each product reduces NOx abatement operating costs and minimises the need to treat waste products.
