Keywords: Urea-based NPK granulation, CRH, dehumidified air through cooler, two coolers; a process cooler and a product cooler
The production of urea-based NPK fertiliser granulation throws up many challenges, primarily because of the low Critical Relative Humidity (CRH) of the material. To make matters worse, the recycle section, that is the screening and crushing section, is to be placed after the cooler, thereby sending a cold recycle to the granulator, making agglomeration all the more difficult. This paper addresses these and several other problem areas and suggests ways of overcoming or minimising the difficulties in the manufacture of granular urea-based NPKs.
